Purpose We are seeking an In-Build Reliability Engineer to join our Quality & Reliability team. This role ensures that Czinger vehicles are built to the highest standards of craftsmanship and reliability by combining technical quality expertise with a hands-on presence in the production environment. The In-Build Reliability Engineer will be responsible for overseeing incoming quality, managing the Material Review Board (MRB) process, and maintaining robust inventory and containment controls. Beyond inspection, this role is accountable for driving root cause analysis, preventing recurrence of build issues, and continuously improving quality processes across Vehicle Operations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of advanced inspection methods and tools, including CMM programming, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques, with a focus on effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive data-informed decisions to improve yield and reduce defects.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills to effectively present quality metrics, deliverables, and insights to stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience in a quality-focused role.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, or defense with familiarity in standards like AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
  • Hands-on experience with MRB and non-conformance management.
  • Familiarity with end-of-line or customer product auditing is highly desirable.
  • Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead incoming inspection activities to verify that supplied components meet engineering specifications and quality requirements.
  • Verify that drawings are up to date and reflect supplier information.
  • Working with Design Release Engineers (DRE), define and maintain incoming inspection methods, plans and acceptance criteria
  • Work with suppliers and internal supply chain to resolve non-conformances and improve part quality.
  • Chair or support MRB activities, ensuring timely and accurate disposition of non-conforming material (scrap, rework, use-as-is, fit adjustment).
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to drive root cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Maintain full traceability and data accuracy within ERP and quality systems.
  • Monitor the quality status of parts and assemblies within production and inventory areas, ensuring proper segregation and labeling of non-conforming material.
  • Verify that clean points are established during issue containment and permanent corrective action introduction.
  • Lead periodic quality audits on the shop floor to ensure process adherence and build integrity.
  • Identify recurring build issues and non-conformance to drive corrective/preventive actions through structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, PDCA… ).
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineering to enhance build robustness and reduce variation.
  • Support the development of quality standards, inspection methods, and control plans for new programs and processes.
