Budget Technician - Learning Services

About The Position

Maintains and tracks budgets for various departments in Learning Services including, Curriculum & Instruction, Library Media and Textbook Services, New Teacher Induction and the Deputy Superintendent. Perform general office/bookkeeping duties which may be required but not limited to answering phones, basic computer functions and applications, filing, copying, proofreading, etc. Employee Punctuality and Appearance: In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Equipment: This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use. Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required. Physical and Mental Demands: Occasional overtime required Attendance at required meetings Experience with the budgeting process spreadsheets Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written Adequate knowledge of computers, 10-key and other office equipment Ability to organize, communicate effectively, and make calculations Knowledge and application of digital literacy skills Ability to perform a variety of tasks, changing assignments on short notice, performing under deadlines and working in a calm and efficient manner Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them Interrelations: Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Adequate knowledge of computers, 10-key and other office equipment
  • Ability to organize, communicate effectively, and make calculations
  • Knowledge and application of digital literacy skills
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, changing assignments on short notice, performing under deadlines and working in a calm and efficient manner
  • Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
  • Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's, Technical, or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in budgeting/clerical role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and track the following Curriculum & Instruction budgets: Textbook, National Board Certified, Curriculum & Instruction Design, Library Media, Formative Assessments, Physical Education, New Teacher Induction, Professional Development Council, Curriculum Instructional Support PD.
  • Maintain and track Learning Services Activity funds
  • Approve all charges for Learning Services Activity funds
  • Maintain and track budgets for Deputy Superintendent, District Evaluation PD, At Risk and Learning Centers
  • Maintain and track Title IIA budgets including funds for Non-Public schools
  • Monitor and approve Title IIA charges
  • Submit and track Addendum Days and Supplementals for Learning Services
  • Submit, track and approve Addendum Days and Supplementals for At Risk and Learning Centers
  • Complete Title IIA section of the LCP application and reports
  • Complete quarterly Salary Certifications for Title IIA
  • Verify and track Learning Services FTE funding
  • Complete Homework Hotline Monthly Payroll Rosters
  • Review all charges to the budgets listed above for accuracy
  • Complete Journal Entries when needed
  • Review PO reports
  • Complete budget planning reviews for all budgets listed above
  • Approve Professional Growth (Frontline) request for At Risk Funds
  • Process Waived fees
