We currently seek a full-time Budget Analyst to join our grants management/fiscal department! The Budget Analyst will provide financial and programmatic performance information to management by researching, analyzing data and preparing reports for government fundings and foundations. The Budget Analyst maintains journals, ledgers, financial statements, budgets, program statistics, reports, and contracts under the general supervision of the Senior Budget Analyst. The Budget Analyst is also responsible for timely submission of the Fiscal Cost Report (FCR). This position is hybrid eligible. Hybrid schedules are subject to change with or without notice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Minimum of two years experience analyzing financial data and experience working with state and city government agencies to create annual budgets and monthly/quarterly vouchers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite specifically Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate large amounts of data while succinctly summarizing conclusions to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Ability to travel locally
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships

  • Competence in grant accounting is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Ensure financial reports and vouchers are accurately prepared and submitted on a timely basis to Government agencies for reimbursement
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings to provide financial and budget data
  • Contribute to the fiscal month-end close by validating expense allocations against approved budgets to ensure accurate posting in the accounting system
  • Record journal entries related to expense reallocation
  • Approve Purchase Orders and provide allocation according to approved budget
  • Monitor the budget status, providing monthly budget vs. actual reports to Program Management
  • Meet periodically with Program Management to measure progress and address over or under spending
  • Work with the Program Analysts and ensuring accurate tracking of performance data and timely performance reporting to funders
  • Work with management to secure financing for the organization by assisting in the preparation and review of requests for Proposals and grant applications; develops budgetary recommendations
  • Ensure Osborne Association complies with all fiscal regulatory and legal requirements
  • Allocate funding sources in the HRIS system
  • Attend required training(s)
  • This position is a hybrid role, divided between remote work and in-person work at our Brooklyn Heights office (elevator building).
  • Perform other duties as assigned
