Budget Analyst

About The Position

ITnova is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Budget Analyst to support financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities. This role is responsible for reviewing monthly financial performance, coordinating consultant accruals, analyzing expenditures, and supporting budget preparation efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience working with large datasets, and advanced proficiency in financial systems and Excel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Five (5) years of experience in complex financial analysis and reporting, budget forecasting and data analysis within a large organization
Proficiency in PC applications (Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Lists, etc.)
Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros/VBA, etc.)
Demonstrated experience SAP financial modules, Peoplesoft, Oracle Essbase and Hyperion with SmartView software applications
Ability to reconcile financial data
Ability to work with large datasets
Knowledge of GASB accounting principles
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience working independently
High attention to detail with the ability errors and inconsistencies

Responsibilities

Review and analyze monthly financial performance and identify variances
Prepare and coordinate monthly consultant accruals by verifying supporting documentation related to purchase orders
Research and track purchase order agreement payments and expenses within authorized and valid service periods
Analyze month-end postings for accuracy and financial variances
Research and prepare ad hoc project data reports
Validate adherence to charge code guidelines for all construction and consultant expenditures
Assist in budget preparation and data input
Reconcile financial data and ensure compliance with accounting standards
