About The Position

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a Budget Analyst I-II to join the Budget Management Department. This position involves budget preparation and analysis work, focusing on the efficient use of financial resources and effective financial management controls. The role is currently teleworking with a headquarters location in downtown Austin, Texas.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in budget preparation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the agency's financial program, policies, and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; devise solutions to problems; and write concisely.
  • Experience in preparing state agency operating budgets, legislative appropriations requests, fiscal notes, and agency cost estimates.
  • Experience and skill in analyzing budgetary and performance issues.
  • Experience in data gathering and analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public sector budgetary controls and administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and development of the Agency operating budget and Legislative Appropriations Request.
  • Provide and coordinate instruction and guidance to divisions and departments on budget-related procedures.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate budgetary activities and performance measures.
  • Prepare and review operating budget reports, identifying areas for effective fund usage.
  • Interpret and apply statutes and regulations, organize workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate and work effectively with external and internal parties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
