About The Position

The Budget Analyst I assists in the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to support the development of SEPTA's annual financial operating and capital budgets. This role provides foundational support for departmental budget submissions, organizational health initiatives, and the maintenance of financial databases and tracking systems. The analyst works under close supervision to perform routine tasks and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of experience involved in administrative/analytical responsibilities required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be methodical, detail oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in data collection and analysis for the development of the Authority's annual financial operating plan.
  • Reviews and analyzes annual operating budget requests for assigned departments.
  • Aids departments in preparing their operating budget submissions.
  • Assists in creating and preparing Transformation Office (TO) organizational health reports and materials for meetings and briefings.
  • Coordinates the planning and execution of organizational engagement programming, such as listening sessions and location briefings.
  • Supports the Organizational Health Index and other employee surveys, providing basic analysis and response plans.
  • Maintains departmental databases and files for tracking capital project expenditures.
  • Reviews material requisitions, contract awards, and task orders for compliance with departmental procedures.
  • Assists in calculating SEPTA's share of the annual sub-area allocation of federal capital funds.
  • Supports data sharing across the Authority and assists in creating TO Dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  • Performs special assignments and other duties as assigned.
