The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) involves assisting management in the planning and development of the budget for the New Orleans Field Division. The role includes preparing reports, analyses, and justifications in support of budget estimates, overseeing the use of investigative funds, and providing consultative services to management regarding financial matters. Assist management in the planning and development of the budget for the field division.
Prepare reports, analyses, justifications, briefing documents, and exhibits in support of budget estimates or specific budget requests.
Program funds as defined in operating plans and enter transactions into financial systems to reflect obligations and expenditures.
Oversee the use of investigative funds by monitoring and reporting on fund use and maintaining associated financial documentation/records.
Communicate both orally and in writing to provide consultative and advisory services to management and represent the organization in conferences and meetings related to financial matters.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing budget oversight and analysis functions.
Alternatively, a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of education and experience.

Experience in federal budget processes and regulations.
Knowledge of financial management systems and reporting tools.
