About The Position

The Budget Analyst position at the 1st Delta Operations Squadron (1 DOS) within the U.S. Space Force is crucial for managing financial resources to support training and development for Guardians. This role involves analyzing financial data, preparing budget justification materials, managing appropriated funds, and ensuring effective execution of the budget in a dynamic environment. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to facilitate mission success through sound financial management practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, finance, etc.).
• Experience as a budget analyst in a high-tempo environment managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
• Knowledge of the federal budget process, including budget execution and formulation.
• Experience using financial databases and systems, and spreadsheets for budget-related tasks.
• Financial Management (FM) Level 2 Certification is required.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and federal government FM systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience advising and briefing senior leaders.
• Ability to create senior leader briefs and write financial management guidance.
• Skills in training resource advisors and solving budget-related problems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and transform financial and performance data into visuals for program managers and leadership.
• Prepare budget justification materials and manage funding appropriated by Congress.
• Develop and maintain annual funds spend/execution plans.
• Execute budgets through program spend plans and funding documents.
• Monitor and analyze contractor performance, providing assessments and recommendations to management.
• Prepare multi-year program funding strategies consistent with program cost estimates.
• Communicate analysis of issues and draft recommendations to address budgetary challenges.
• Audit funds management systems and create courses of action for compliance.
