About The Position

The BTAC Music Assistant will assist the Professor/Music Supervisor who leads the orchestral process for Curtain Up in their spring BPC performance. They will work closely with the professor. The BTAC MA will assist in all aspects of Music Supervision for the Curtain Up Concert in the Spring. The BTAC MA will learn to and help to create a positive rehearsal environment for the given production, to cultivate creativity and productivity. This includes all aspects of production, so it is an ongoing position: the student will assist with pre-production in the fall semester, and work in the spring semester to help produce the show

Requirements

• Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
• Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
• Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
• Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
• A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
• Federal Work Study student may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing.
• Must be located in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Music Supervisor in coordinating all the music for the show
• Facilitate communication between performers, directors, and writers
• Assist in coordinating scheduling
• Assist in ordering equipment
• Creating music rehearsal plans
• Coordinate a music rehearsal schedule with the Stage Manager and Director.
• Proofread scores and parts
• Make sure all scores and parts are named/dated appropriately and that the most current version of each document is filed where it’s supposed to be
• Checking in with accompanists and writers to make sure no important information is missed in the collaboration process
