About The Position

Responsible for BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance functions for assigned regions, business segments, and BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance units within the financial services holding company to fulfill regulatory compliance management requirements in support of the enterprise-wide BSA/AML/OFAC compliance program. Uses professional knowledge, experience and analytical criteria to identify BSA/AML/OFAC compliance risk and helps ensure that proper controls, procedures, processes and training are developed to mitigate these risks The information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 - 8 years job specific experience
  • 5 years experience in AML/BSA compliance
  • High level knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC law and regulations
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to comfortably speak with individuals of all levels within and outside the organization
  • Written communication skills and the ability to articulate well in writing
  • Organizational skills and the ability to develop and adhere to a plan
  • Time management skills and the ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and automated monitoring systems

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Enterprise - BSA Compliance Business systems subject matter expert and system resource, taking a lead role in the application of these area(s) of expertise.
  • Provides technical innovation and leadership to satisfy customers' business requirements.
  • Provides direction in one or more IT system platforms.
  • Assists in the business process design, redesign and documentation as needed for new technology; ensures technology solutions are in compliance with and uphold organizational standards.
  • Develops business models to represent requirements, such as use cases, business process flows, and data flow diagrams.
  • Provides direction and training to team members on support IT - BSA system platforms.
  • Supports multiple system related projects to enhance and build sustainable integrated processes.
  • Ensures that data integrity issues are minimized.
  • Analyzes and gathers requirements for system workflows.
  • Creates detailed business cases and technical specification documents and provides support for implementation and post-implementation processes.
  • Facilitates meetings with lines of business and peer groups.
  • Works directly with the stakeholders to solicit, analyze, and partners with IT to document and manage BSA requirements through the full project life cycle.
  • Assists in designing visual mock-ups for application development.
  • Maintains constant communication with Synovus bank management at all levels, and develops strong working relationships.
  • Obtains, captures, and validates needed information from stakeholders to form requirements through various analysis techniques.
  • Translates high level business requirements into specifications for Vendors and IT organization.
  • Responsible for requirements management, approval, change, and traceability.
  • Proactively identifies gaps and recommends effective controls to the business for strengthening the target state environment.
  • Works on multiple projects as a project leader and assists in evaluating and identifying project complexity, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Provides technical advice on the industry standards, design, usage, functionality, behavior, and user interface specifications and configuration parameters related to supported or proposed technologies and services to fit business needs.
  • Ensures the alignment of third party vendor controls and standards with current organizational Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) governance.
  • Navigates and oversees projects to support the strategy and implementation of regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with Vendor Management, Information Technology and Operations to ensure systems and system interfaces adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the process of resolving business system problems and/or assumes responsibility for maintaining system integrity.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of functional changes to the system.
  • Maintains system configurations of the IT system platforms in relation to business needs.
  • Conducts systems analysis with a focus on business process models and use.
  • Maintains a current knowledge base and understanding of technological trends; uses IT knowledge base to bring solutions to business units supported and enhance BSA Compliance's competitive edge.
  • Performs root cause analyses of errors and system issues identified.
  • Outlines and documents all root cause analysis outputs, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proactively monitors industry and regulatory activity to identify trends, potential impact, best practices and opportunities for ongoing improvements to the BSA Compliance Program.
  • Partners with risk management colleagues to assess the impact of required changes to policy and procedures across areas with business partner leads.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
