Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED education required. Some college level credits taken preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years financial institution experience preferably in branch operations and SAR and CTR experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with financial institution customer due diligence and risk function areas.
  • Experience with Verafin preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and practical experience with credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions.
  • Ability to handle simultaneously, multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ability to work with all levels of credit union staff and members. Must possess strong service orientation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
  • PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet as well as other spreadsheets and financial analysis programs.
  • Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: fax, copier, telephone, etc.
  • Some travel required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. (e.g. file boxes, supplies, etc.) on an occasional basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Compliance Department maintain the Credit Union's BSA/AML compliance program.
  • Analyses currency transaction data and completes CTR's electronically. Reviews, researches and clears BSA alerts and OFAC notifications. Prepares suspicious activity packet with supporting documentation for BSA Officer approval and electronic filing.
  • Assists with the due diligence program to predict the types of transactions in which members are likely to engage and determine when transactions are potentially suspicious.
  • Acknowledges and clears all CDD/EDD Alerts generated through the credit union's BSA software and provides quality control and follow up, as necessary, for new members by scrutinizing customer due diligence and beneficial ownership questionnaires.
  • Assists the Compliance Department maintain the credit union's enhanced due diligence program in connection with members' accounts that are determined to pose a potential high risk of money laundering, terrorist financing or political corruption.
  • Develops expertise with the use of BSA software, including on-going updates and enhancements.
  • Assists Compliance Department team with BSA alerts and tasks as requested by the BSA/Compliance Manager.
  • Assists the VP Compliance, AVP Compliance and BSA/Compliance Manager with internal and external audits and exams as necessary.
  • Performs other compliance, audit and administrative duties as assigned by the VP Compliance and BSA/Compliance Manager.
