About The Position

The BSA/AML Compliance Analyst assists in the day-to-day BSA/AML responsibilities within the Compliance and Vendor Management department. Responsibilities include independently investigating alerts and cases, documenting findings, preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other regulatory reports under established procedures, training, and managerial review, in support of the Credit Union’s BSA/AML program.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify unusual or potentially suspicious activity.
  • Ability to document investigative findings clearly, accurately, and consistently in accordance with established procedures.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly for case documentation and SAR narratives.
  • Ability to apply judgment within assigned authority and escalate higher-risk, complex, or unusual matters appropriately.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and complete case documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory deadlines in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and apply BSA/AML regulatory requirements through training and on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and under managerial review.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Two or more years of experience within a financial institution in roles involving risk identification, transaction analysis, operations, lending, deposit services, or compliance support, with the ability to apply transferable skills to BSA/AML investigations.
  • Ability to conduct transaction monitoring alert reviews and case investigations, with the level of independence commensurate with experience.
  • Knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, including SAR and CTR requirements, appropriate to the role.
  • Ability to identify potentially suspicious activity and escalate higher-risk or complex issues in accordance with established procedures.
  • Experience drafting SAR narratives or supporting regulatory reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • BSA/AML or related certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations involving suspicious activity, fraud referrals, and unusual transaction patterns using BSA/AML monitoring systems and internal referrals.
  • Prepares SAR drafts and supporting documentation for review and approval by the BSA Manager and/or BSA Officer.
  • Escalate higher-risk, complex, or novel activity to the BSA Manager in accordance with established escalation protocols.
  • Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) activities as assigned, including analysis of anticipated versus actual activity.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities as assigned and incorporate feedback to improve investigative quality and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in BSA/AML systems and case management tools.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements, including Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), under established procedures and managerial review.
