About The Position

To assist in development and continuous improvement of a high-functioning, school-based, intensive (Tier 3) intervention providing clinical and behavioral supports and skill development to young children (grades K-4 or 5-8) struggling with complex, often trauma-induced, behavioral health challenges.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Demonstrated interest in, and successful experience, supporting students struggling with complex behavioral health challenges in achieving success in the regular classroom environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with professional staff to successfully implement a complex intervention
  • Evidence of the flexibility, emotional maturity and stability necessary for the work involved
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
  • Use evidence-based research practices and data to most effectively guide increasing student growth and achievement using proactive and solution-focused approaches to meeting student needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, state and federal laws, and Methuen School policies
  • Work with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner.
  • Maintain appropriate confidential records.
  • React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations (e.g. environmental changes, behavior/aggression, seizure activity, etc.).
  • Operate and/or acquire skills to operate a computer and related software including but not limited to Google and use instructional technology and data systems appropriately and work with students to facilitate their use of instructional technology.
  • Strong collaborative, counseling, advising, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills to support student programming and work in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance the responsibilities of a high demand position.
  • Knowledge of specialized content areas as well as any related laws and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and implement services and supports within multi-tiered systems of support based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of assigned students.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the bryt Academic Coordinator and counseling department team as well as school/district leaders, teachers, and external support organizations to develop and continuously improve a program dedicated to supporting students struggling with complex behavioral health challenges in functioning effectively in the regular classroom environment.
  • For each student participating in the Tier 3 intervention, supports effective implementation of a comprehensive plan integrating clinical, care coordination, family, and classroom supports.
  • Collaborates with the Academic Coordinator, administration, and counseling team to maintain an environment in the space(s) dedicated to the Tier 3 intervention that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Assists in provision of 1:1 and/or small-group clinical intervention to participating students on a flexible, as-needed basis.
  • Works closely with participating students’ teacher(s), as assigned, to support integration of strategies successful for that student into the regular classroom setting.
  • Assists in monitoring progress of students who have transitioned out of the Tier 3 intervention.
  • Assists in ensuring that all required data is gathered and entered into data management systems according to program procedures.
  • Participates in professional development activities and works to integrate learning from those activities into their practice in order to continuously improve the Tier 3 intervention.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and/or school committees as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
