About The Position

A Sales Associate-Key Holder at Brown Elephant performs store opening and closing functions, in addition to cashiering, on-floor sales, stocking, sorting/pricing of donations, general cleaning and maintenance, and customer service duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/ GED or equivalent is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive sales and achieve store profitability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
  • Knowledge of basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Willingness and desire to work with diverse populations.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of resale/retail sales and cashiering experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual- (English/Spanish) proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of fashion trends, furniture, vintage, and collectables in the resale market is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily store opening and closing procedures, including POS processes per the Cash Handling Policy.
  • Operates cash registers, handles returns and exchanges, and other Point of Sale (POS) transactions.
  • Performs active on-floor selling and up-selling, including but not limited to, approaching and engaging customers and donors, writing and moving PIFs (paid in full), creating a customer base, and negotiating sales.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service following established guidelines.
  • Engages in active on floor selling and up-selling of merchandise, and client building.
  • Greets and assists customers and donors by following established customer service guidelines.
  • Stocks, prices, and sorts donations and merchandise.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and customer friendly environment.
  • May attend meetings as necessary.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
