Position Summary: This position atten ds to and cares for the birds in the Brood house . Other duties may also be assigned based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • The jobsite is a bio secure environment whic h requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear are provi ded by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the job site except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing .
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques .
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and will occasionally be to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times or push/pull wheeled skids of supplies up to 1000 pounds .
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for the majority of the shift on a concrete floor; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; climbing/ladder usage, talk or hear; and drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus .
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments .
  • Must maintain a high level of situational awareness while working around equipment and livestock.
  • TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment .
  • TM is expected to identify , address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • The employee is expected to adhere to all Company policies .

Responsibilities

  • These feed and water birds according to schedules (30%)
  • These walk floors daily; examine birds for signs of illness and treats according to instructions; pick up and dispose of mortality (20%)
  • These place pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source (20%)
  • These clean and disinfects waterers, pens, and performs routine housekeeping duties; repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc. ) (10%)
  • These record information according to instructions such genealogy, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality (10%)
  • Maintain and assist with housekeeping standards in the working areas; inspect birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of storage areas , breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles , cleaning incinerators ; moving birds, grounds-keeping and organizing breeder tags ; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds  in accordance with company policy (10%)
