Requirements

  • Degree (preferred): Bachelor's degree in Import/Export, International Trade or equivalent.
  • Experience in US Customs Brokerage (preferred)
  • Hands-on knowledge of Customs clearance functions.
  • Ability to complete work within standard procedures, guidelines and office policies.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels written and oral communication and presentations.

  • Good computer skills, and ability to learn new programs and tools including knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor key metrics to achieve expected results.
  • Complete required training hours and mandatory trainings.
  • Ensure timely completion of certifications (CICS, Billing, DG imports).
  • Actively participate in scheduled 1:1s and EPEs.
  • Perform consistently at the highest level, according to District Excellence standards.
  • Ensure timely data execution (DXR to LOG, LOG to ENF, LOG to ESP, INV, ENF to ESP, UCE to AME, AUE to AUA, EDE to EDA).
  • Maintain trade compliance (ESP, CENSUS, In-bond transactions).
  • Communicate with carriers and interested parties.
  • Exemplify and teach company culture, mission, and goals.
  • Follow Code of Business Conduct and Critical Success Factors.
  • Comply with company and local policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Monitor quantitative and qualitative performance.
  • Contribute to building healthy cross-functional relationships and team spirit.
  • Communicate training, support, or tool needs to leadership.
  • Escalate issues or concerns.
  • Prepare and execute personal development plan and goals.
  • Provide courteous and professional communication with customers and coworkers.
  • Notify customers of potential delays.
  • Respond to internal and external customer requests with reliable information.
  • Monitor and work on priorities.
  • Understand and follow Border Brokerage Operational Process Standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Customs entries, In-bonds, and FTZ admissions.
  • Ensure customer expectations are complied with and documented on SOPs.
  • Work with Team Lead and Supervisor to keep SOPs updated.
  • Participate in product trainings and stay current with regulations.
  • Ensure files are logged correctly and timely with proper codes, trace types, and events.
  • Address exceptions and shipment holds (UCEs, EDEs, IAEs, AUEs, etc.).
  • Escalate inconsistencies or concerns with customer instructions and regulations.
  • Properly use Expeditor systems and tools (EXPO Customs, CHB Workboard, GCI tool, CFIT, E.doc/Lyft, Raft, VR, ETC.).
  • Report system failures to Team Lead and Supervisor.
  • Report opportunities for automation.
  • Participate in team, department, and branch meetings.
  • Ensure emails are handled timely and professionally.
  • Ensure customer’s legal documents are updated prior entry processing.
  • Contribute to operational effectiveness and comply with District Excellence metrics.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or accidents to the Branch’s Health and Safety representative.
  • Understand and follow credit policy.
  • Timely and correctly bill all processed entries, update CFIT notes with any exceptions.
  • Understand accounting processes and reports and its impact.
  • Monitor and constantly work on preventing monetary losses.
