About The Position
As a Broiler Cook at J&G Steakhouse, you will play a vital role in the culinary team, responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to meet the high standards of quality and presentation expected at The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort. Your primary duties will include preparing ingredients for cooking, which involves portioning, chopping, and storing food, as well as washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables. You will be expected to weigh, measure, and mix ingredients accurately, ensuring that all food is prepared according to established recipes and quality standards. Additionally, you will prepare cold foods and operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently and monitoring food quality during preparation will be essential tasks in your role. You will also be responsible for setting up and breaking down your work station, serving food in proper portions onto appropriate receptacles, and maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen area. This includes washing and disinfecting kitchen tools, tables, and equipment, as well as checking the temperature of appliances and food to ensure safety and quality. Following all company policies and safety procedures is crucial, and you will be required to report any maintenance needs, accidents, or unsafe conditions to your manager. Maintaining a professional appearance and developing positive working relationships with your colleagues will contribute to a supportive team environment. You will need to adhere to quality expectations and standards while being prepared to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds. This position does not require supervisory experience, but a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred, along with at least one year of related work experience.
