About The Position

As a member of the culinary team at J&G Steakhouse, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality food that meets the standards of The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing ingredients for cooking, which involves portioning, chopping, and storing food. You will also be responsible for washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, and preparing and cooking food according to established recipes and quality standards. This position requires you to prepare cold foods and operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. You will need to test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality throughout the preparation process. In addition to food preparation, you will be responsible for setting up and breaking down your work station, serving food in proper portions, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. This includes washing and disinfecting kitchen tools, tables, knives, and equipment, as well as checking the temperature of appliances and food to ensure safety and quality. You will be expected to follow all company policies and safety procedures, report any maintenance needs or unsafe conditions to your manager, and complete necessary safety training and certifications. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance is essential, as is developing positive working relationships with your colleagues to support team goals. The role requires physical stamina, as you will be standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and may need to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds. You will also be expected to perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors, contributing to a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment.
