About The Position

The Broadcast Technician will provide technical support for live and recorded video content production, including the delivery, installation, setup, and basic operation of broadcast and IT-related equipment. This role involves serving as a technical lead for other technicians, overseeing their performance, and working in a fast-paced production environment with time-sensitive deadlines.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years in a video production environment (remote and studio).
  • General knowledge of operating studio equipment including lighting, audio consoles, and camera equipment.
  • Education or training in production or computer platforms, IP/IT technologies with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with audio/video switching, connectivity, routing, terminations, encoding, and signal flow.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with basic server, networking topology, and operating systems.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful attitude with the ability to solve unusual or unexpected problems in high-pressure environments.
  • Effective communication skills in a team setting.
  • Eagerness to learn new equipment, shooting roles, and studio workflows.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with video distribution switchers and audio mixers.
  • Familiarity with studio lighting equipment and microphones.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of studio technology systems, software, and equipment.
  • Serve as supervising technician on-site when the studio Senior Broadcast Engineer is away.
  • Collaborate with the senior broadcast engineer to design and implement new workflows and adjustments to existing workflows.
  • Oversee implementation of technical workflows on a project-by-project basis.
  • Assist with facilities maintenance of studios.
  • Supervise all studio inventory processes and update studio inventory documents.
  • Prepare Best Practices and SOP documents detailing studio operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Fill shoot roles during productions, focusing on cameras, audio, and lighting.
  • Perform equipment prep, configuration, and check-in/check-outs to studio staff, as well as routine maintenance and updates.
  • Work with the Video Production team on productions, both on and off campus, including live productions and multi-camera studio operations.
  • Transport and set up video, lighting, and audio equipment as required.
  • Resolve or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as needed and assigned.
