About The Position

We're looking for a Broadcast & Studio Systems Engineer to support all technical operations for a high-performance broadcast studio in New York City. This role manages system readiness, live-production reliability, and the overall health of the studio's infrastructure. You'll provide real-time quality control during productions, maintain and optimize core systems, and troubleshoot complex issues across routing, audio, video, networking, and large-format displays. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires independence, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to keep live shows on air without interruption.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years in broadcast engineering or studio systems support.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across routing, hybrid IP/SDI workflows, and studio hardware.
  • Experience with Evertz SDI/IP routing, Magnum, and SDVN orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with Planar and/or Sony CLED display technologies.
  • Familiarity with production switchers (Ross, Grass Valley, Sony), Dante, Clear-Com/RTS intercoms, and professional camera systems.
  • Knowledge of SDI, NDI, AES67, and ST 2110 standards.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, live production environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely access racks, control rooms, and studio equipment positions.
  • Flexibility to support early/late production schedules as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, solutions-focused approach during live production challenges

  • Experience with MAM/PAM or cloud-based media workflows.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud for basic post troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of editorial/post-production workflows.
  • Experience diagnosing cloud or storage-related issues in media environments.
  • Experience using ticketing/workflow systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily technical operations of the studio and control room.
  • Perform system checks to ensure all equipment is ready for live production.
  • Monitor routing, switching, audio, video, graphics, and display systems during broadcasts.
  • Step in to operate production equipment when needed to maintain on-air continuity.
  • Maintain cameras, switchers, audio consoles, intercoms, routers, servers, display walls, and monitoring systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and keep system configuration and signal-flow documentation accurate.
  • Test backup paths and redundancy systems regularly to ensure reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving Evertz routing (SDI/IP), SDVN, IP transport, and core studio hardware.
  • Partner with IT to troubleshoot multicast, VLANs, QoS, and network-related issues affecting production systems.
  • Support and maintain Evertz Magnum + SDVN across hybrid SDI/IP environments.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Planar video walls and Sony CLED (Crystal LED) display systems.
  • Support Ross XPression, Dante/AES67 audio networks, and studio monitoring tools.
  • Support control room technologies such as multiviewers, tallies, timing systems, playback/clip servers, and downstream signal monitoring tools used in live productions.
