About The Position

The Broadcast IT Technician at Taft Broadcasting Company is responsible for providing comprehensive installation, maintenance, IT, and engineering support for radio and television broadcast equipment. This role involves ensuring the dependability and speed of complex network infrastructure components, troubleshooting various computer-related equipment, and maintaining compliance with DoD Information Assurance requirements. The technician will also work closely with engineers on new project installations and develop operational procedures for maintenance and system backups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Communications, or Information Technology (IT).
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in engineering and maintenance, or 5 years of relevant experience as an exception.
  • Must obtain CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent IAT level II certification) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain network and/or computing environment certifications as assigned to meet IAT level II requirements.
  • Must obtain a certification as a Broadcast Engineer from the Society of Broadcast Engineers (or equivalent) within 1 year of hire.
  • Skilled in computer systems, networks, routers, switches, FTP, and file-based workflows.
  • Basic knowledge of signal flow and maintenance of digital television and radio equipment.
  • Exceptional communication, multitasking, and motivational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain broadcast systems on IT infrastructures.
  • Evaluate, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure components.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve PCs, Servers, and other computer-related equipment problems.
  • Provide instruction to others on the operation of broadcast equipment.
  • Create operational procedures for periodic maintenance and system backups.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed digital workflow and file delivery diagrams using VISIO.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Information Assurance requirements and safeguard access to Active Directory.
  • Maintain an image server and backup configuration files according to criticality levels.
  • Collaborate with engineers on new project installations and workflow development.
  • Research new technology to improve workflows and practices.
  • Repair, align, and maintain digital and analog video/audio systems and other broadcast equipment.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
