About The Position
WJHG/WECP, Northwest Florida’s leading news stations, seeks a Broadcast/IT Engineer in Panama City Beach, Florida. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day hands-on maintenance of the technical infrastructure supporting all live, recorded, and post-production projects. This individual must be hard-working and self-motivated with an ability to thrive in high-stress situations. The candidate must be available to work during breaking news situations, severe weather, new system integrations and updates, and be part of the Engineering Teams’ on-call rotation, responding to emergency support as necessary. At least 2 years of working experience in IT/Broadcast Engineering is required. This position also involves periodically working in Master Control for the station’s 12 channels.
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience with Windows operating systems, servers, e-mail systems, FTP Servers, and TCP/IP networking.
- Working knowledge of video/audio systems, news, and television automation equipment.
- This is a Monday-Friday position, but occasional weekend and night shifts will be necessary. Schedule flexibility is required to respond to emergency situations.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Must be available to work a minimum schedule of 40 hours per week.
Nice To Haves
- IT Certifications are a plus. CompTIA Certifications or their equivalent (not limited to A+, Linux+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Applicants will be required to support the full scope of both Broadcast and IT issues.
- Troubleshoot and Repair PC, Networking, studio, and Field Equipment, and Transmitter Problems.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of all company facilities associated with our station. This includes HVAC, generators, security systems, satellite dishes, electrical systems, and hardware.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks based on station needs.
- Communicate promptly and effectively with any staff member or department regarding Broadcast/IT/Streaming needs or technical issues with a positive and professional attitude.
- Expert understanding of all equipment in studio, production, Master Control, and Transmitter Sites.
- Routine Maintenance and Inspections of the Station’s Vehicle Fleet.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional work on ladders and/or enclosed spaces.
- This is a full-time position for an individual who works efficiently with little supervision.
