We are actively seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Engineer (Consultant) to take a leadership role in show-day engineering for TGL presented by SoFi. In this pivotal freelance/contract position, you will be instrumental in driving the technical success of our live productions from December 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The ideal candidate will possess thorough, hands-on expertise with advanced broadcast technologies, including a deep familiarity with the Ross ecosystem, operation and troubleshooting of LED ribbon and display systems, comprehensive audio engineering (from digital mixing consoles to PA and comms integration), and robust experience with transmission workflows. Your role will require you to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex technical challenges under tight timelines, ensuring seamless delivery across all aspects of production. Requirements

  • On-site EIC or broadcast/venue engineering experience in live environments.
  • Strong Ross ecosystem familiarity (Ultrix, Carbonite, Tria, XPression; Tessera workflow understanding).
  • Practical LED, audio, comms, and transmission troubleshooting chops.
  • Comfortable reading scopes/meters, clocking and sync basics, and fiber test tools.
  • Clear communicator; cool under pressure; organized and decisive.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work nights/weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dante Level 2/3, Q-SYS Level 1+, IP video (SRT, NDI) and HDR workflow experience preferred
  • Knowledge of frequency coordination and familiarity with L-Acoustics system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of technical operations for live productions, including system buildout, quality control, and executing shows and events
  • Manage signal routing and system control utilizing Ross Ultrix, Ross Carbonite, Ross Tria, Ross XPression, Ross Tessera, Ross Gator, as well as equipment from AJA and Blackmagic Design
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to installed LED systems and processors such as NovaStar and Brompton, including panel servicing and maintenance
  • Administer audio input/output and network configurations using Dante, MADI, Waves/SoundGrid, PA systems, and digital mixing consoles including DiGiCo and Allen & Heath
  • Operate and coordinate communication systems such as Bolero and RTS ADAM and manage RF microphones and intercom setups
  • Establish and support replay, vision, and graphics pipelines, incorporating vMix and robotic/PTZ camera operations
  • Design and maintain video signal paths for 3G HDR and 4K HDR environments, including fiber patching, termination verification, and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic networking (e.g., VLANs, IP addressing) and transmission technologies such as Bitfire, AT&T GVS, and Tata Switch
  • Provide support for lighting systems interfaces, including DMX protocol and grandMA integration
  • Maintain thorough documentation of workflows, ensure systematic labeling, oversee equipment condition, and liaise with vendors and venue personnel
  • Uphold leadership in safety standards and best practices across all operations
  • Mentor and provide guidance to additional freelance technicians as needed
