About The Position

Paul Bunyan Communications, a progressive local telecommunications company and Minnesota’s largest broadband cooperative, has an opportunity for you to join our team! We are seeking a Broadband Technician for our Chisholm / Hibbing Exchange. This position primarily works 8:00am- 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position is based out of our Grand Rapids office and reports to our Hibbing location for job duties. This role puts you on the front lines of delivering world‑class connectivity to homes and businesses across northern Minnesota. As part of our team, you’ll install and maintain cutting‑edge internet/broadband, voice, and video technologies helping our members live and work where they choose, without sacrificing performance or reliability.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a installation / repair role or training in a related vocational program
  • Valid MN Driver's License
  • Proven ability to correctly diagnose and correct problems with products or equipment
  • Proven ability to consistently meet work schedules
  • Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job
  • Basic knowledge of equipment safety and procedures
  • Basic math and problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and consistent attendance
  • Proven ability to recommend process improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and safety

Responsibilities

  • Install and support the latest internet/broadband, voice, and video services in residential and business environments
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and splice a robust, state‑of‑the‑art fiber optic network
  • Play a key role in delivering network reliability that often meets or exceeds what’s available in major metropolitan areas
  • Support members who rely on our network to work from home, run businesses, and stay connected
  • Share on‑call responsibilities as part of a collaborative team committed to service excellence
  • Grow your skills through on‑the‑job training and hands‑on experience with modern fiber technology
  • Other duties as apparent or assigned
