About The Position

The Broadband Technician role involves installing fiber internet and voice services for residential and business customers, responding to trouble tickets, performing routine maintenance, and providing customer support. The position requires outdoor work, including climbing transmission poles and using bucket trucks to access lines, as well as hands-on installation tasks using various tools and equipment. The technician will also educate customers about services and maintain detailed records of installations and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site installations of fiber and wireless services utilizing access to the home or business including crawl spaces, attics, and walls.
  • Route cables from exterior to interior while considering the aesthetics of the building.
  • Climb transmission poles and use bucket trucks to hang drops for installations.
  • Use hand tools to dig holes and trenches for installation and troubleshooting.
  • Operate power tools to mount fiber and complete installations safely.
  • Connect customer's PC to router, modem, or other DFN equipment.
  • Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identify, correct, or escalate problems.
  • Correct and repair DFN provided services and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and operating problems.
  • Provide customer service and education, clearly explaining all services and equipment operations.
  • Maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns and questions.
  • Promote additional services available to customers and potential customers.
  • Keep detailed records and complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of various cables and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicles including bucket trucks.
  • Perform maintenance work on cabinets, DSLAMS, etc.
