About The Position

The Broadband Technician I (BBT I) is an entry-level position at Optical Telecommunications Inc., responsible for the installation and maintenance of fiber, cable, and telecommunications equipment at customer premises. This role involves working in a dynamic environment to provide high-quality service and support to customers, ensuring they are educated on the use of their equipment and services.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate at heights up to 40 feet using extension ladders and/or bucket trucks.
• Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and various spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
• Familiarity with computer operating systems and various customer devices.
• Ability to learn to use handheld devices including signal level meters and digital multi-meters.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in telecommunications (1 year preferred).
• Experience with fiber optics (1 year required).
• Customer service experience (1 year preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber, cable, and modem installations, reconnects, and disconnects for single and multiple dwelling units (MDUs).
• Install customer premise equipment (CPE) including Dish Network-based set-top boxes (STB), IPTV STBs, and DOCSIS modems.
• Install Dish Network-based satellite L-Band systems, including mounting and aligning antennas.
• Install phone service by punching down service at the main demarcation point or using a multimedia terminal adapter (MTA).
• Use industry-standard tools to install connectors, fasteners, and various hardware.
• Utilize signal level meters to verify quality of service (QoS) parameters.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of telecommunications services within the home.
• Provide customers with information regarding fiber optic services, channel lineup, and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with customers and educate them on equipment usage.
