Requirements

  • Ability to work well with others and independently in the field
  • Must have own vehicle and tools
  • Basic electricity knowledge
  • Basic transmission of xDSL installation
  • General computer skills
  • Experience with test sets as required
  • Knowledge of working with fiber and copper facilities
  • Ladder safety knowledge
  • Ability to work in various environments including attics and crawl spaces

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers effectively and professionally
  • Read and understand mainframe/cross-connect/control point layouts to run jumpers
  • Follow instructions on dispatched jobs, trouble tickets, project prints, throw and sequence sheets
  • Utilize test equipment and interpret test results for all workstreams
  • Configure customer-owned computers
  • Connect fiber optic jumpers and drops (aerial, buried, and plenum)
  • Educate customers in internet access
  • Install and maintain telephone service (VOIP or Copper)
  • Work with routers and home networking
  • Run or reuse COAX or CAT 5 wiring
  • Utilize MOCA or Wi-Fi technology for installations
  • Install aerial drops, internet hubs, routers, ONT, and power supplies
  • Understand COAX cable sizes and types and install connectors
  • Work with fiber and copper facilities
  • Ensure ladder safety and comply with OSHA safety requirements
  • Bury CAT5/coax up to 50 ft.
  • Run temporary fiber drops safely
  • Climb poles and splice fiber drop connectors
  • Install and repair stations (Cat 3, Cat 5e, Cat6, RJ11, RJ45 jacks, drop, and NID)
  • Understand loss, attenuation, and tiling
  • Identify assigned cable pairs using telephony color code
  • Verify service and place wires between walls when required
  • Work within attics or crawl spaces
  • Use workforce management systems including Mobile Tech Portal
