The Broadband Network Technician I is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting and resolving system outages for data, video, and telephone. This role will be responsible for emergency restoration of coax, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage and splicing. The BNT I is required to maintain documentation as needed and participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years (telecom technician)

Responsibilities

  • Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages for data, video, and telephone.
  • Responsible for emergency restoration of coax, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage and splicing.
  • Maintain documentation as needed.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.
  • Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damage.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipment.
  • Monitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulations.
  • Observe and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities.
  • Complete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
