About The Position

SUMMARY: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of state buildings and indoor premises. Work involves maintaining restrooms and floors clean. Entry level position and works under close supervision with minimal latitude. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains cleanliness of state buildings and indoor premises.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand English/Spanish
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and be able to stand for long periods at a time; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work indoors.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required; able to drive to other locations, as necessary.
• Must conduct themselves within the GIEP ethics policy.
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers and people receiving services.
• Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining client’s location clean.
• This pertains specifically to restrooms and floors within the building/office.
• Responsible for restroom maintenance, applying cleaning chemicals, mopping, spraying, waxing, and stripping floors.
• Ability to work with chemicals used for cleaning purposes.
• Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment in working order.
• Demonstrates excellent work habits, maintaining a good attitude.
• Ensure all safety rules are adhered to.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. and persons receiving services.
• Assists in other areas as requested.
