About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Design Project Engineer III to be based in AECOM's Orange, CA. office. This career enhancing position will involve performing transportation structure design analysis, including plan preparation of structures in Los Angeles, Southern and greater California as well as exposure to and contributing to project work throughout the Western U.S. This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects such as the and a dynamic work environment due to the number, type and size of bridges that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced bridge group this engineer will be joining. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Current PE license in the State of CA.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years' experience bridge design experience with project delivery experience in CALTRANs and California / West Coast U.S. bridge design work.
  • Master's degree in structural engineering.
  • Experience with Caltrans and AASHTO bridge design practices, techniques, and applicable Codes.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software).
  • Knowledgeable of other standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable Codes, such as IBC/CBC, AREMA, MRDC, etc.
  • Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
  • Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
  • Use current engineering design software.
  • Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
