This is your chance to join our team - help us to design the infrastructure and buildings that improve the world! We are looking for Bridge Engineers to join our team in our Austin, TX office. In this role, the engineer will work on a multi-disciplinary team inspecting bridges and developing bridge and structural plans for transportation projects for TXDOT, other State DOT agencies, and/or municipal localities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Relevant Internship experience preferred
  • Experience with TXDOT bridge safety inspections a plus
  • Completion of NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) a plus
  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state on as needed basis
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to work independently and in a design group setting
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications
  • Must have writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation
  • Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Bridge software a plus
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing engineering inspection, design, coordination, and review of projects in a specific engineering discipline for an assigned functional area.
  • Work will also include performing field inspections of highway bridges, documenting defects, preparing reports, and completing computations to calculate the load ratings of various bridge types.
  • Responsibilities may include preparing designs and contract documents for the repair or replacement of various types of bridge structures and providing support during construction such as reviewing shop drawings.
  • The position requires the application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of engineering inspection and design activities in a variety of work environments.
