About The Position

Volkert is searching for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Mid Atlantic team located in Springfield, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing on-site safety inspections of bridges and culverts, leading a team of inspectors in the field during inspections, scheduling and coordinating inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, maintenance of traffic, operating access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections, reviewing and updating bridge inspection reports, developing repair recommendations, and reviewing structural analysis data.

Requirements

• Experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports
• Strong working knowledge of NBIS
• Advanced writing and communication skills
• NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader
• 50% Local In-State Travel required
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Nice To Haves

• NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses preferred but not required
• EIT or P.E. license preferred but not required
