Position Summary: JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking a Bridge Inspection Engineer responsible for assisting a Professional Engineer in performing NBIS inspections of in-service transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic device support structures. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Compensation for this position is $90,000 - $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Requirements

  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving and organization
  • Ability to work on multiple project assignments in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office software including WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write, speak, and communicate effectively
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural concentration
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
  • 3-4 years or more experience in performing in-service bridge safety, ancillary and other structural inspections

  • Successfully completed FHWA approved comprehensive bridge inspection safety course meeting National Bridge Inspection Standards (23 CFR 650, Subpart C (FHWA-NHI-130055)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with contractor coordination
  • Assist with scheduling access equipment
  • Assist with preparing condition assessment reports
  • Assist with developing repair recommendations and cost estimates
  • Assist with preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
