About The Position

Moffatt & Nichol is actively seeking a Bridge Engineer with at least 8 years of experience with bridge and/or rail structure projects to join our team. Our NorCal Transportation team provides a wide variety of structural transportation services to Caltrans, cities, and counties in the area including concrete and steel bridge design, bridge widening and replacement, grade separations, structural assessment and rehabilitation, seismic retrofit, underground structures, and retaining walls. Firm-wide, our bridge practice provides design and inspection services both domestically and internationally. We have worked on some of the most iconic bridges in the USA! The ideal new hire will be familiar with a variety of civil and structural engineering projects, have permitting experience, and a strong existing professional network with municipal, state DOT, and regulatory agency staff. This position will be based out of our Walnut Creek (preferred) or Oakland office but can be located in Northern California. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related) required and Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer in the State of California required
  • At least 8 years of experience in bridge and other structural components of transportation design
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CSiBridge, CTBridge, vBridge, VBent and/or CTAbut preferred
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of designers, engineers, and professionals to successfully deliver project plans, specifications, reports, and other design related materials
  • Identify marketing opportunities, engage perspective clients, and assist with the preparation of proposal packages
  • Maintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government agencies, cities, Caltrans, as well as private clients
  • Utilize structural analysis software for design, such as: CSiBridge, CTBridge, vBridge, VBent, CTAbut, SAP2000, etc.
  • Compile data and perform calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design studies
  • Conduct inspections and assist in supervision of site investigations as needed
