What you’ll be challenged to do: The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 3 years of progressive design experience in bridge and structural engineering. Experience should consist of bridge analysis and in the development of all aspects of bridge plans. The candidate should also possess good technical and communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day execution of assigned projects. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• 3+ years of bridge engineering and/or inspection required.
• Understanding of structural design principles for steel, reinforced, and/or prestressed concrete required
• Knowledge of and experience using MicroStation and Microsoft Office is required
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills along with strong organization and time management skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using structural design and analysis software such as LARS (load ratings) Merlin-DASH, Open Bridge Designer (LEAP Steel and Concrete), STAAD, and/or L-Pile preferred.
• Experience with various design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and transportation related structures
• Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings
• Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates
• Review of shop drawings
• Assisting bridge inspections and preparation of inspection reports
• Performing load ratings
• Participating in project meetings with clients
• Coordination with team members to meet project quality standards and milestone deadlines
• Representing GFT at industry and professional events.
