About The Position
The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Bridge Engineer Specialist to join our Bridges & Structures Bureau (BSB) in Ames, Iowa. This full-time position is integral to our mission of making lives better through transportation. As a Bridge Engineer Specialist, you will be responsible for managing advanced engineering projects, developing construction plans, and ensuring compliance with Iowa DOT and AASHTO specifications for bridge and culvert construction. In this role, you will review and coordinate a variety of consultant-prepared plans, monitor workflows, and oversee critical project documentation. Your ability to analyze challenges and define successful solutions will be crucial in this position. We are looking for someone who is passionate about highway design and committed to excellence in our engineering products. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will work with various stakeholders, including management and consultants, throughout the project development process.
