This position is for a highly motivated Bridge Design Project Engineer IV, based in the Baton Rouge or New Orleans, La. offices. This career-enhancing role involves performing transportation structure design analysis, including plan preparation for structures in Louisiana, and contributing to project work throughout the Western U.S. The role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects and a dynamic work environment within an experienced bridge group, providing opportunities for project management, professional, and technical growth.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Louisiana PE licensure
  • Ability to pass MVR check.

Nice To Haves

  • BS, MS and 8 + years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software such as Civil3D, Microstation, LEAP Bridge Concrete, MDX, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOWare etc.
  • SE highly preferred.
  • Extensive (6-8 + years) TxDOT bridge design project experience.
  • Professional engineering related work environment with heavy emphasis on design of highway bridges.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, develop technical reports and document client communications.
  • Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
