About The Position

The Transportation Engineer position involves performing transportation engineering work and data analyst tasks utilizing TxDOT’s Bridge Asset Management software (AASHTOWare BrM). The role includes conducting statistical analysis, data visualization, data preparation, data quality control, and bridge lifecycle cost analysis to inform bridge repair and replacement recommendations. Compliance with federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines is essential. The position requires interaction with governmental officials and private entities, and employees at this level follow standard practices with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science accepted by TX PELS.
• 4 years of engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain a Texas license within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with statistical analysis methodologies and reporting procedures.
• Knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics.
• Familiarity with bridge inspection and appraisal methods and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Answers technical and policy questions related to bridge inspection and maintains bridge inspection data.
• Analyzes data and provides summaries.
• Ensures compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.
• Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.
• Performs data collection, evaluation, analyses, studies, investigations, forecasts, and/or plan development associated with facility issues.
• Performs engineering analysis of statewide bridge conditions and develops reports on bridge conditions.
• Recommends bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation, and repair of damaged bridges.
• Represents the district/division at various meetings.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
