About The Position

The Brewer at Gordon Biersch Brewing Company is responsible for overseeing the entire brewing process, ensuring quality and consistency in the production of various beverages. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, automated environment, collaborating with Quality Control and Maintenance teams while contributing to special projects and maintaining plant efficiencies.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• A Bachelor's degree in Brewing, Fermentation Sciences, Chemistry, or related fields OR formal brewing education.
• 5+ years of professional brewing experience in an automated brewhouse.
• Proficiency with automated brewing systems.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to troubleshoot, multi-task, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Brew a variety of beers, ciders, and other beverages produced by the company while ensuring quality and consistency.
• Oversee the brewing process from start to finish, including wort production, fermenting, and filtration.
• Utilize and program the automated brewing system for brew scheduling, CIP (Clean-in-Place), and trend graphing for plant efficiency.
• Conduct daily filtrations, CIP duties, and brewing hygiene tasks.
• Monitor yeast cell counts and CO2 levels, and sample tanks for laboratory analysis during fermentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and assist with major repairs.
• Document brewing performance and report any safety or mechanical issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the production area.
• Receive and store raw materials in accordance with food safety standards.
• Prepare finished products for packaging and assist in packaging operations as needed.
• Provide tours and educational insights when required.
• Support training and development of brewing staff.
