About The Position

The Breeder Technician is responsible for providing technical support and guidance to contract producers to ensure the proper care, comfort, and performance of company-owned poultry. This role focuses on flock management, farm support, compliance oversight, and coordination across multiple operational teams. The technician will help producers maintain optimal bird health, environmental conditions, and production outcomes while meeting company standards and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in poultry production or an agriculture-related field preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Excel and related programs.
  • Travel: 1–5 trips per year.
  • Biosecurity Requirements: Must not own or maintain domestic, wild, or exotic birds (e.g., chickens, ducks, parrots).
  • Must sign and follow the company Biosecurity Agreement.
  • Must adhere to the Company's Animal Welfare Policy at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to producers on flock management, including: Bird comfort, equipment settings, ventilation, and lighting programs
  • Litter management and farm sanitation best practices
  • Monitoring flock health, egg production, body weight, conformation, and feed consumption
  • Recommending corrective actions when needed
  • Conduct routine farm visits and document observations on bird care, equipment functionality, and compliance with company standards.
  • Coordinate: Bird placements to farms
  • Feed schedules and delivery needs
  • Vaccination crew schedules
  • Catch schedules and communication with hatchery, feed mill, live haul, and other operational departments
  • Collect and submit required blood and fat samples on schedule.
  • Ensure producer compliance with all production contracts, company animal welfare guidelines, and USDA/government regulations related to poultry handling.
  • Assist Broiler and Breeder Hatchery Departments with weekly chick-placement planning.
  • May supervise Breeder Technician I roles and lead: Technical advisor meetings
  • Grower meetings
  • Support coordination of complex-wide initiatives including: Ammonia control agent applications
  • Pesticide applications
  • Litter hauling or composting schedules
