About The Position

The Breeder Service Tech is responsible for producing quality hatching eggs at a competitive cost. This role involves conducting all responsibilities in a manner that aligns with Peco's vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain equipment and vehicles.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare and biosecurity standards.
  • Experience in managing farms and handling hatching eggs.
  • Ability to work with feed mills and make decisions on feed amounts.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting and consulting with Producers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • Ensure that housing, roads, and equipment are maintained to Peco standards.
  • Ensure that farms are managed according to Peco standards.
  • Ensure that hatching eggs are handled correctly.
  • Weigh, flesh, blood test, and collect fat correctly and on schedule.
  • Work with feed mill in ordering the proper feed and in the volume needed.
  • Ensure that proper water and feed withdrawal is practiced and house is ready for catching.
  • Make decisions on feed amounts that will result in maximum production at best cost.
  • Follow animal welfare and biosecurity programs and ensure that Producers are trained and following these standards.
  • Provide information for reports properly and on schedule.
  • Monitor and consult with at least 6 breeder contract Producers on the designated service route.
  • Handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.
