About The Position

The Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI) is recruiting a Breast Oncology/Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our established oncology team in Minneapolis, MN. Key Position Details: Additional Job Description The Allina Health Cancer Institute is seeking a Breast Oncology/Medical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider to join our growing team. 1.0 FTE. Monday- Friday business hours. The role will manage breast patients and collaborate closely with three attending breast medical oncologists to implement care plans. Provide care for other solid tumor patients as needed. This is primarily a clinic focused position located in the Piper Breast at Center Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. This role includes care for active treatment patients, infusion center support, sexual health visits for patients with cancer, and survivorship visits. This role will see all patients. Inpatient rounding every 6th weekend is part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire ( NP)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty required upon hire.
  • MN NP/PA license required upon hire.
  • BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • New Graduates may be considered.
  • Prefer a minimum 2 years of experience in Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.
