About The Position

The Breast Imaging Technologist will oversee the daily operations of the breast imaging department, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of imaging services while maintaining high standards of patient care. This role includes supervising and supporting breast imaging staff, implementing departmental policies, and providing leadership and mentorship. The technologist will coordinate training programs, facilitate staff meetings, and assist in recruitment and retention of qualified personnel. Compliance with regulatory standards such as the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) is essential. The position also involves quality control processes, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the breast imaging department including scheduling, staffing, and patient flow.
  • Supervise and support breast imaging staff, including technologists and administrative personnel.
  • Implement and monitor departmental policies and procedures to align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations for breast imaging staff.
  • Coordinate training and continuing education programs for staff.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and promote open communication.
  • Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of qualified personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with MQSA, ACR, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee quality control processes including image reviews and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and service quality.
  • Ensure a patient-centered approach to breast imaging.
  • Address patient concerns and collaborate with the patient care team.
  • Support patient education regarding imaging procedures and follow-up care.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records related to staff schedules and patient imaging.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
  • Assist in budget management and monitor expenses.
  • Prepare reports on departmental performance and operational efficiencies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Breast and Women's Health to develop new services and technologies.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to optimize imaging protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to strategic planning for breast imaging services.
  • Support community outreach programs and breast health awareness initiatives.
