About The Position

The Breast Care Navigator is a Full Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday at Sacred Heart Imaging Center. Summary: The role of the breast imaging patient navigator is to provide Inland Imaging’s patients with a personalized path for their breast health. This person will supply information and educate the patient on the various breast imaging modalities and services provided. This person will work with the patients, referring clinicians, radiologists, medical specialists, and staff to help meet the needs of each patient within their imaging care path. Requirements

  • Education: Certified Mammography Technologist, Registered Breast sonographer or Registered Nurse
  • Experience: Minimum five years breast imaging or breast cancer nursing experience
  • Computer Skills: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook; Kronos; Imagecast; Philips PACS; Microsoft Office Suite
  • Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • In order to comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Associates, LLC will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Employees must not be included on this list.
  • Drug Test: Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test which includes Marijuana.

Responsibilities

  • Navigator will be the primary contact for all patients with breast biopsy recommendations.
  • Contact each patient given a biopsy recommendation.
  • Explain the procedure and answer any questions from the patient.
  • Assist patients with additional information as needed for informed decision making.
  • Review biopsy orders from referring provider and communicate directly with referring office for additional information as needed.
  • Contact breast biopsy patients for post-procedure assessment.
  • Provide explanation of results and recommendations.
  • Provide patients with a positive diagnosis with Breast Cancer information.
  • Work with clinicians as needed for patients requiring surgical referral.
  • Work closely with patients reluctant to proceed with further work-up recommendations and document their decision.
  • Work closely with QA personnel to enter data into MagView (tracking system).
  • Run audits and other reports to review with radiologists in the breast section.
  • Assist with identifying and coordinating care for high-risk patients.
  • Work closely with Providence genetic counselor to coordinate further care if needed.
  • Provide screening guidelines ABUS Breast MRI Coordinate breast cancer conference case selection and preparation.
  • Attend Tumor Board when cases are presented.
  • Outreach to underserved communities that may be significantly under-screened.
  • Participate in educational events for our referring providers and potentially patients concerning current screening guidelines, managing high risk patients, etc.
  • Review and update brochures and other patient materials.
  • Work closely with BCCHP local program for patient financial assistance.
  • Reach out to community businesses for support.
  • Sponsor mentorship program.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality within the Inland Imaging companies and Inland’s customers.
  • Honest, pleasant manner and good personal hygiene.
  • Free of alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented; ability to multi-task; organized and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals, approved seminars, etc.
  • Ability to consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adheres to departmental standards and personnel policies by demonstrating professional demeanor in conduct and appearance.
  • Follows company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills to help identify concerns and solutions, assisting where needed to ensure a smooth functioning department.
  • Follows all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Inland Imaging or its partners depending on work location.
  • Performs other duties as required by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting and performing other projects and responsibilities, and requesting other projects and responsibilities.
  • Attendance is required for this position.
