About The Position

This reporter will be responsible for covering breaking news and trending topics daily, often producing multiple stories per day, and is expected to be a top pageview producer for the newsroom. The role involves creating quick videos for most stories, sometimes exclusively video content. The reporter must possess fundamental reporting skills, including accessing public records (such as police records, body cam, and surveillance video), developing sources, conducting interviews, and analyzing data. Proficiency in reading analytics, using Google Trends, and maintaining an active presence on social media is crucial to identify trending topics and understand audience engagement. The reporter will also actively solicit User Generated Content from various social channels. Embracing Artificial Intelligence as a tool to enhance reporting is a mandatory aspect of the role. Responsibilities include localizing national and state stories and potentially collaborating with other reporters and editors to create alternative URLs for existing content. Occasional field reporting is required, and the reporter will contribute to the newsroom's coverage of major breaking events like hurricanes and tent-pole events.
