About The Position

Bloomberg News is seeking a bilingual editor to cover China-related news during overnight hours. As a Breaking News Editor, you'll be at the front line of real-time journalism, scanning a nonstop flow of information, spotting what matters, and delivering fast, accurate coverage that moves markets. From government statements and corporate filings to US-China tensions and viral social media stories, you'll distill the firehose of raw information into clear, impactful headlines and short-form stories. This is a fast paced, high-impact role where speed and precision are everything.

Requirements

  • At least five years of financial journalism experience, ideally at a leading financial publication
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin to support in-depth China coverage
  • Strong understanding of China's economy and government, along with proven knowledge of global financial markets
  • Comfort working in a fast paced, real-time news environment, with an eagerness to embrace technology and innovation
  • A competitive drive to deliver news first, and best, to Bloomberg's global readership

Responsibilities

  • Make quick decisions on whether and how to cover breaking news, predominantly about China but also the rest of the world
  • Write and publish real-time headlines and short-form stories with speed, accuracy and context under immediate deadlines
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Asia and across our global newsroom to anticipate and prepare for major news developments
  • Stay on top of key trends and stories that matter to investors, policymakers and market participants
  • Embrace the latest technology to filter information and stay ahead of competitors
  • Be a reliable, flexible and constructive presence on a fast-moving team
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across our global newsroom to anticipate and prepare for major news developments, be it coverage planning or tool maintenance
