About The Position

This part-time position requires working on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) to receive, prepare, and present all buffet breakfast food items, ensuring that the appearance and quality of food meets and exceeds established product and presentation standards. The role involves ensuring adequate food supplies for hotel guests throughout the continental breakfast and replenishing as appropriate. Responsibilities include conducting inventories, initiating orders, and checking the delivery of all required food and beverage items. The position also requires maintaining cleanliness in the breakfast buffet area and food pre/storage areas during meal periods, ensuring that all kitchen, pantry, and buffet equipment is in good working order, and notifying the supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment promptly. Additionally, the role involves monitoring food operations to ensure compliance with health and sanitation procedures, developing relationships with guests to promote hotel features, and performing opening, pre-work, and closing duties for the breakfast meal period.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some prior food service experience and basic knowledge of foods and beverages.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends.
  • Multi-tasking abilities.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, prepare, and present all buffet breakfast food items.
  • Ensure adequate food supplies for hotel guests throughout continental breakfast.
  • Conduct inventories, initiate orders, and check delivery of food and beverage items.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the breakfast buffet area and food pre/storage areas.
  • Monitor and maintain food operation compliance with health and sanitation procedures.
  • Develop relationships with guests and promote hotel features during breakfast.
  • Perform opening, pre-work, and closing duties for breakfast meal period.
  • Ensure safe storage and security of food and beverage items.
  • Clean food equipment, china, silverware, glassware, and service ware after each meal.
  • Comply with employee lifting, hazardous materials treatment, and accident reporting procedures.
  • Assist other team members as necessary.
  • Report guest comments and complaints to the Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Maintain care and cleanliness of tableware and serving equipment.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Report suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
