About The Position

The Bread Baker at Earth Fare Roanoke is responsible for upholding the company's Vision, Mission, Declaration, and Customer Service Creed while adhering to the department's Standard Operating Procedures. This role involves both independent work and teamwork to ensure the daily baking of muffins, cookies, Danishes, and croissants is completed according to production guidelines. The Bread Baker will open and close the Bakery Department and is tasked with providing exceptional customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous experience baking or cooking in a restaurant, bakery, or catering environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a retail and/or customer service-oriented environment preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service to customers and Team Members at all times.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and assist customers while completing necessary production duties.
  • Ability to read and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity with potentially hazardous equipment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and maintain alertness.

  • Work cooperatively with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Earth Fare vision, standard operating procedures, and merchandising guidelines with a strong emphasis on customer service, safety, and sanitation.
  • Bake muffins, cookies, Danishes, and croissants, monitoring production levels and fulfilling production requirements.
  • Set and maintain the baked goods case and sales floor, including product, signage, and rotation for freshness.
  • Provide excellent customer service at the bakery counter and other areas as needed.
  • Turn ovens and other equipment on and off as required.
  • Scoop batter for muffins, cookies, and breakfast items to prepare for the following day's production.
  • Package dry case items to move baked goods to the sales floor.
  • Wrap pastry trays to ensure proper freshness and storage.
  • Slice bread for customers as needed.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory counts and attend required department and store meetings.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Bakery Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and overall organization of the department.
