About The Position

Good Earth Tools is looking for an energetic and detail oriented candidate to add to the Brazing team! The primary responsibility of the Brazing Technician will be to set up and join together tungsten carbide to base metals through the brazing process. On the job training will be provided for this unique and exciting position!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent is preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals, and blueprints
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have the ability to work 40 hours a week as scheduled and maintain a punctual, reliable attendance record
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, grasp, read, talk, write and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job
  • Must also be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The following should be expected to be encountered: long periods of standing, frequent lifting, pushing and pulling, continuous exposure to heat, noise within the plant

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and joins together metal products by using induction heaters or hand soldering and brazing equipment according to specification of job order, work layout or blueprints
  • Sets up parts using required amount/proper grade of carbide/silver/flux/copper shims by following specifications of work orders
  • Demonstrates proper use of safety equipment by following all safety guidelines
  • Grinds and deburs parts using hand and power tools without causing damage
  • Uses grinding booth, sandblaster, rotoblaster, and pressure washer to remove any contaminates prior to setting up parts for brazing and following the brazing process by adhering to proper equipment guidelines
  • Inspects proper dimensions of part and carbide layout on print for each individual job prior to setup for brazing
  • Keeps work area and plant clean and orderly by following proper safety and housekeeping guidelines
  • Uses forklifts and cranes to lift or move heavy items (pallets, tubs, parts) by following forklift/crane safety guidelines
