About The Position

The person in this position creates and maintains a consistent visual identity for the City of Douglasville across all communication platforms. This role involves the development and execution of branding strategies and graphic design projects and ensuring that all city materials align with the established brand guidelines.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • three to five (3-5) years of experience in graphic design and brand management
  • Requires a Valid Georgia Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of branding principles and visual communication strategies.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate presentation equipment.
  • Ability to operate remote vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.􀶮
  • Ability to exercise judgment in the release of information.􀶮
  • Ability to coordinate and manage several projects simultaneously using effective time management and problem-solving techniques.􀶮
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • The work requires sedentary activity and involves prolonged periods of sitting; frequent fingering, grasping, and handling associated with computer and design equipment use; repetitive motion; reaching; speaking and hearing to communicate with staff, vendors, and city officials; sustained visual acuity for detailed graphic design, content review, and digital media production; and the mental acuity necessary to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Experience working in a government or public sector environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of web design and social media content creation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Brand Management:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive branding strategies to promote a positive and cohesive image of the City of Douglasville.
  • Ensure all city communications and materials adhere to established brand guidelines.
  • Manages the city's brand assets, including logos, fonts, and color schemes.
  • Graphic Design:
  • Creates high-quality visual content for various media, including print, digital, and social media platforms.
  • Designs marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, banners, and advertisements.
  • Produces graphics for city events, campaigns, and announcements.
  • Communication Support:
  • Collaborates with various city departments to provide design support for their communication needs.
  • Supports departmental communications through design and content development by refining or creating clear, concise messaging; reviewing submitted materials for completeness and effectiveness; and ensuring information is accessible and easily understood by the public.
  • Assists in the creation of presentations, reports, and other visual aids for city officials.
  • Works with the Community Relations Director to develop and implement public information campaigns.
  • Project Management:
  • Oversee multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Coordinates with external vendors and contractors as needed for printing and production services.
  • Provides functional oversight and coordination support for related communications roles to ensure alignment with branding standards and design objectives.
  • Digital Content:
  • Maintains and updates the city's website with current and engaging visual content.
  • Creates and manages content for social media channels to enhance public engagement and awareness.
  • Develops multimedia content, including videos and animations, to support city initiatives.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Participates in community events to promote the city's brand and gather public feedback.
  • Conduct workshops or training sessions on branding and design for city staff and community partners.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
